Naivedya to be offered on Aso Vad 14 (Kali Chaudash)
1¼ handfuls of Lapsi (sweet dish)
1¼ handfuls of Khichdi
1¼ handfuls of Talvat (sesame sweet)
1¼ handfuls of rice (in two separate bowls)
1¼ handfuls of rice cooked together
These offerings must be placed before Mataji. When performed at Veraval, the two separate rice bowls should be mixed with ghee and jaggery—one offered to Meravadar Dada and the other to Bawariya Dada. Other offerings like lapsi, khichdi, and talvat must also be offered at Mataji’s shrine.
At the birth of a son, four coconuts for the four corners and one for Mataji (five total) must be offered. On the third Akhatrij after birth, special offerings are performed along with laddus made from flour, part of which are distributed to daughters in the Khakhriya family.
First, the offering (Nived) of Surapura Dada has to be done as follows:
For Shri Surapura Dada – 3 handfuls of jaggery-rice.
For Ganpati – 2 pieces of laddu.
For Shri Sikotar Mataji – 1¼ handfuls of lapsi, khichdi, and talvat (sweet preparation).
For Surapura Bapa – 350 grams of sorghum jaggery-rice, along with 1 coconut to be offered. Out of this, five koria (coins) should be given to the temple of Kanabapa, and besides that, there is a small dairy where 10 koria should also be given.
Another elder of the Khakhriya family is Bechar Kachra Khakhriya, whose shrine is presently placed at the residence of Jentilal Odhavji Khakhriya. His family performs the worship, rituals, and offerings there. Along with them, the Madhadada family also observes it.
Additionally, there is Govaba (Govindji Karabhai Khakhriya), whose family reveres Bhuwabapa, a saintly figure similar to Gothavabapa, presently placed at the residence of Lalji Hirji Khakhriya.
At present, in Veraval village, the worship and Aarti of the Khakhriya family’s Kuldevi, Shri Sikotar Mataji, is conducted by the Lohana family priest Dhanabhai Gor (Saraswat Brahmin), Maharaj Shri Hargovindbhai Keshavlal (Rateshwar), and his son Jaydeepbhai Gor.
List of Offerings (Nived) for Kuldevi Shri Shikotar Mataji of the Entire Khakhriya Family
Note:
1. All Khakhriya family members are requested to follow the given instructions.
2. The offerings (nived) must be made at Mataji’s place (as per Mataji’s command).
3. A total of 7 offerings (nived) are to be made.
Offerings for Chhedachhedi (family rites) :
Lapsi (sweet dish): 1¼ handful
Talvat (sesame sweet with jaggery): 1¼ handful
Ganpati’s Ladoo: 1 piece
Khichdi Mori: 1¼ handful
Rice with jaggery: 1¼ handful
For Surapura Dada: 3 handfuls of jowar with jaggery, and for Kanabapa (Bawariya Bapa) 5 Koriya
In the small Deri beside: 10 Koriya of jowar (on behalf of the entire Khakhriya family)
Special Note: The Khakhriya family must perform the above offerings (Chatarshi) on Aso Vad 14 (Chaudas)
Offerings For Pinda
Coconut: 2 pieces extra
Talvat with jaggery: 1 handful
Ganpati’s Ladoo: 1 piece
Note: If the offering is made after delivery (childbirth), then the jowar must be doubled at Mataji’s place.
Measurement:
Small Chag: 250 grams
Large Chag: 500 grams
Special Instructions for Birth of First Son:
If the first son is born in the family, then a special offering must be done, and the child must be brought to Mataji’s place for blessings.
For Surapura Dada: 3 handfuls of rice with jaggery mixed with jowar.
Additionally, offer 1 coconut, 1 umbrella, and 1 chunri (veil) at Mataji’s temple
List of Offerings on Vaishakh Sud-3 Akhatrij:
Note: On Akhatrij, the Chotla (hair tuft) must be untied at Mataji’s place.
Char (ritual): Fill flour up to the brim of a basket measure (Tokdiya), and offer it at Mataji’s temple.
Char (ritual): Fill flour up to the brim of a pot measure (Gadiya), and offer it at Mataji’s temple
Special Note: From the above flour, prepare ladoos and distribute them to the daughters.
On the day of Akhatrij, one coconut must be offered for each Chotla at Surapura temple.
The prepared offerings must be presented there.
At Surapura temple, offer 1¼ handfuls of sweet rice with jaggery to both Dadas.
Special Note:
The sanctity of the offerings made to Mataji at Surapura Dada’s temple must always be preserved.
The leftover coconuts offered at Mataji’s temple must be given to the young daughters.
All Khakhriya family members must follow these instructions.
Shri Sikotar Mataji’s temple is currently located at Moti Veraval (known as Lohana Veraval), about 23 km from Jamnagar.
There are two routes from Jamnagar to Veraval.
From Jamnagar via Samana Road and Lalpur Road – at the 16 km milestone from Lalpur, take the road from Lothiya Patiya towards Rampar Patiya.
From Jamnagar via Ranjitsagar Road – past Dhorivav and Gangavav, turn right towards Veraval.
